Quality Management
Key Takeaway
  • Strong quality governance and management practices.
  • Recognised and globally certified quality standards.
  • Hindustan Zinc 2.0 priorities: Strive for zero-defect operations, end-to-end quality integration with digital systems, and adopt an agile, people-led quality culture.

At Hindustan Zinc, quality is rooted in a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement. As we advance towards Hindustan Zinc 2.0, we are evolving quality management from a compliance to an outcome-driven function through investments in robust systems, digital integration, and agile practices. We are encouraging our people to challenge traditional methods and innovate with confidence. Through this, we can drive consistency, reliability, and performance as well as ensure faster problem-solving and superior customer outcomes.

Quality Framework Built on Rigour

Our quality governance is guided by dedicated Quality and Customer Delight Policies and Vedanta Quality Management Framework, under which all units are assessed annually by a third party.

A finished goods release assurance through a third party further ensures that all products that reach the customer meet the defined specification.

Our labs, integrated with the SAP S4 enterprise resource planning system and a fully digital laboratory information management system (LIMS), ensure complete traceability and data accuracy across all quality assurance workflows.

In FY2026, we strengthened quality management through the following measures:

Adopting agile quality practices

This year, we launched the Agile Quality Circle, which allows employees to select the most effective combination of quality tools tailored to specific challenges. This deepens employee ownership, engagement, and critical thinking, while accelerating decision-making and creative problem-solving.

Scaling product and service excellence

We undertook focused quality enhancement initiatives to strengthen product integrity and create greater value for customers, including:

Improving mould design to enhance bundle stability and product compatibility
Upgrading to strapping machine heads for more secure and consistent packaging

These measures have improved handling efficiency, reduced storage and transit-related damage risk, and reinforced the delivery reliability.
